Wanna open a Papa Johns?...now might be the best time to do it.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/heres-...132737092.html

The company says operators can open a unit with an investment of less than $250,000. By comparison, McDonald's requires at least $955,000 in startup costs and Taco Bell requires a minimum investment of $1.2 million.

At one time, my college buddies and I aspired to own a McDonalds. At that time, in the '70's I believe you needed $250k to be considered as a franchisee. And it was a fairly good investment since you rarely heard of a McDonalds failing and they were the number one restaurant chain in America. How times have changed.

The point of the article is that Papa John's is waiving some of the initial fees and dropping the monthly royalties for the first five years. It mentions that the average store does $837k per year in sales but some locations do over $2mil.

Once started it's an easy business to run. Every item on the menu is cooked the exact same way - just put it on the conveyor belt and the convection oven will cook it in six minutes. Keeping food and labor costs are the biggest concerns. There really aren't that many other big decisions for the franchisee to make.

I was actually looking into opening a Dairy Queen because there are hardly any in my area, and its not due to lack of interest. However after a bit of research I found that it takes nearly a million bucks to open ONE store. I now see why there are only two in my entire city......

Some of these companies are out of their minds....

Two Dairy Queens in one city already sounds like too many.

Chik FilA has got to be one of the greatest inventions ever. I love those places. Real moneymakers, too. I SUPPORT them because free speech has got to apply to ALL. I'm not a liberal or a conservative. I'm a "mind your own business but help these the least of thy brethren" person. I could not care less that other people want to brand me a "bigot." Knock yourselves out.
