Recent discrimination against black males attempting to go to night clubs, shed light that canada is not as progressive as it portrays. and the response to the spotlight was as milktoast as if one didnt do anything about it.

beware my brothers.

What is your point?
Racial disrimination (as wrong as it is) unfortunately happens everywhere and I certainly think that Calgary of all places is quite low on the poll.

I am interesting in knowing whether you visited Calgary and had a bad experience in a nightclub, or if you are referring to a news article. Thanks.

I am sorry that you were treated badly and didn't have a good experience. When I lived in Calgary I knew black people who certainly had no complaints. Unfortunately that type of behaviour can happen anywhere. My guess is it was a pretty isolated incidence. I guess the other factor could be where you were living. Calgary is quite a big city and there is always "good" and "bad" parts of any city.

it would have been isolated if it werent caught on camera and then validated by undercover expose that uncovered that it was happening at many clubs in the downtown area to keep black men out of the clubs, perhaps afraid they were trying to meet white women.

We call that fear of the BBD.

God. Every city, and every state/province/whatever has their group of ignorant, stupid racists. Hell, even here in multicultural south Florida you've got your black-hating hicks. I've even known BLACK people who hate other black people. Canada, US, doesn't matter; you got your racists anywhere. Just ignore the bastards...and carry a taser (just in case).

Yes, unfortunately a situation like this can and does occur everywhere, from Calgary to New York to Charlotte to London. I don't think anyone out there who promotes Canada as a racially tolerant place would deny that there are not incidences of racism. It would be foolish to do so as racism exists everywhere, some of it outright and some of it institutionalized. Whether this bespeaks to a general racist culture in the city of Calgary (a city which for the record, is regarded as among the least progressive of Canada's large cities), I'm not experienced enough with the city to say.
