I was just wondering has anyone heard any news about a Whole Foods opening up near San Luis Obispo? I think it's a must need store.

We have one in Oxnard and another in Ventura and I still prefer Vallarta.

Default Not yet...

OH, how I would LOVE a Whole Foods in SLO County. You can check their website for future store openings. There are no plans for SLO as of yet.

The nearest one to us right now is Santa Barbara. My sister works in one in San Jose, so I stock up when I go visit with her 20% employee discount~! LOL

Why?

We have New Frontiers in SLO which is a locally owned health food store, plus we have a plethora of organic and locally grown foods in multiple farmers markets AND all those lovely fruit/veggie stands scattered about the county.

There is zero need for a Whole Foods here.

I heard Whole Foods will be going into Garden Street Terraces when it's built. Whole Foods sell more than just veggies. They sell vitamins, supplements, and more. It's like a upscale Vons. Costco, downtown, Trader Joes, and soon Whole Foods are all an effect of Cal Poly.

And what about New Frontiers?? They do the exact same thing but are locally owned....

That will be a surprise if it happens.

I understand the Garden Street Terrace spot for a market is about 14,000 sq ft, all of the other commercial is another 21,000 sq ft.

The average new Whole Foods store is now running about 35,000 to 40,000 sq ft. So it would need all of the available space.

Personally I'd expect Fresh & Easy to go to Garden Street Terrace, their average store size is just around 14,000 sq ft.

Whole Foods sucks, there is a reason people refer to it as Whole Paycheck.

Whole Foods is okay but I like Bristol Farms better. Would love to see one up along the coast somewhere.

I have to check every item, they ring up the wrong product every time and never a cheaper product.
