Can anyone suggest a nice town to live in with a family with good schools We don't need to be near work, but not too far from a major airport (1-2 hours). Our house budget would be around $500,00 to $650,000.
Thanks.

California has almost 40 million people and is bigger than many countries and is geographically and culturally the most diverse state in the country. You need to be more specific about what your wants and needs are if you want informative responses.

We don't know where to start! We like the heat. But otherwise, we would consider anywhere we could afford a reasonable size house in that range, in a safe nice town with good schools. Needing to be near an airport puts us just outside the major metropolitan areas. Vloser to the beah would be a plus.

Seal Beach. How close to an airport? Major airport, I assume.

You really need to refine your search criteria. Maybe you could start by thinking about what you like and dislike about your present location and your reasons for leaving it. What, if anything, do you want to try to replicate about it?
Here are just a few things to ponder (no need, of course, to address them all directly):
Do you want Northern, Central or Southern California? How important, if at all, is it to you to live within an hour, or so of a major city like LA, San Francisco, or San Diego for its cultural amenities? You are looking for a “nice town,” but of what approximate size? What are the maximum number of minutes or miles that you are wiling to drive to get to the beach? Are you looking for a relatively new master-planned and probably cookie-cutter type of community, or an older and established neighborhood with possibly more architectural variety? How does proximity to major medical centers and universities matter for you? Living within a major metropolitan area will likely take care of that problem, of course.
I am sure that I have just scratched the surface and others may wish to add more.

Good Luck!

It's so hard to take posts like this seriously. Especially since work NEVER seems to be an issue. OK , why the heck do you want to move to CA? If you know NOTHING about it then it's a stupid idea. Either there is something here you like (location, family, friends, WORK, etc) or their isn't. And if there isn't, you probably won't like it. And if you have never been here then you need to visit first. And what exactly do you want to do "at the beach?". There are beaches, and then there are beaches. If you don't have a clue then nobody can help you.
