Fall is one of my favorite times of the year in Monterey and along the Central Coast. Crisp, sunny days, while warm enough to hang out at the beach. Yet the crowds are thinned out. I know it's not officially Fall yet. But today is a perfect Fall type day. Summer fog is on the way out. While tourists seem to come here during Summer I recommend Fall and Spring if you are planning a visit to Monterey.

Here are a couple of shots from today:

And here are a couple from from a local hike we took at Point Lobos last week:

Really, we saw the yacht last night just parked in front of our beach area and wondered what it was. I've never seen a boat quite like this one. So I googled it and you're right.

Quote:
The yacht's owner is Andrey Melinchenko, a 38-year-old Russian businessman who made his money in banking, fertilizer and coal. Forbes magazine currently puts Melinchenko's net worth at $4.4 billion... Known as the "A" — the mega-yacht features luxuries most of us can hardly dream up, like a glass-bottomed pool built atop a disco or a plush room with walls covered in stingray hides. -- Russian Billionaire's Yacht Anchors In SF Bay - cbs13.com (http://cbs13.com/local/mega.yacht.anchors.2.1867844.html - broken link)

I heard on the news that it costs only $500,000 just to put fuel in this puppy . His trophy wife is a former model and she is babe-o-licious!

Here is a bit better shot of the yacht. It looks like it's got a bay that opens for smaller vessals to drive right into.

It's name 'A' I found interesting when I first saw it. It turns out it's named after his wife Aleksandra.

And it ended with a gorgeous sunset. I guess our new Russian neighbor pulled into the bay at a good time.

He left Sunday and missed a great Sunset last night. Wonder where he'll cruise to next?
