That may be a decent starting salary although in nursing you can make even more and that is without a Bachelors degree. I think around here, on the coast anyway, a decent salary is $60,000 and more if you are single and $120,000 and more if you are married. A great salary is $100,000 or more if you are single and $200,000 or more if you are married.

Northern Virginia. Our unemployment rate is less than 5% so if you're looking for work, this is a good place to do it.

Liberal CA university system? Hilarious. You right wingers and your liberal boogie man paranoia. Why would somebody in the Ozarks even be concerned about this.

One of the problems with the cal state system is their predominance of English majors, Socialism majors, Psychology majors, and others that will end up with a 4 year degree worthy of the round file. Why does a college educacated person work at Denny's? It is because of a degree that has little value tp the world.

Want a degree that pays? Try medicine, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Engineering, other thought based degrees where people pay you to use your mind.

Well, truthfully I am not as concerned as I was many years ago, but I do have a couple of kids who graduated from college in the system as did my husband and myself. I was raised in Ca, still own property there, still have family and many friends throughout the state. I care about how kids in the country are being educated regardless of what state it is and yes, the university system in Ca is among the most liberal, not just the public, but the private schools. If you don't like my answer I could care less, but this is an open forum and anyone has a right to voice their opinions even if they differ from yours and make some sense.

I agree those degrees are not particularly valuable for a job seeker. But is it the problem of the university system that too many people get these degrees? No one forces someone to get a psychology degree.

How anyone can dispute the fact that the overwhelming majority of CA college professors are liberals is mind boggling. Such talk can only come from those with no interest in speaking the truth. Just look at voter registration among college teachers to see the truth.

The amount of left wing indoctrinating that goes on in colleges these days is astounding and it's not just in the social science fields either. I remember taking a criminal justice course and hearing the teacher talk about how all illegal immigrants are just coming here to work and that's why we should just let them in.

They don't force but they may encourage. The cost to produce one of those majors is much less than the cost to produce an Engineer or some other degree with a big potential. For every Engineer that graduates the school can probably pop out 20 or 30 English majors.
