I just moved to Dublin and ended up with a job in Fremont. How long would the commute in the morning/late afternoon take and is there another route to bypass 880?

Fridays around 4:00 to 7:00 on 580 east is HELL ON EARTH

Depending on where in Fremont I'd consider public transportation - BART, bike, buses

I live in Dublin and had a job in Hayward which is closer to the Tri-Valley than Fremont and late mornings (after 10am) took about 30 minutes by car. About the same on the way back after 7pm. But oftentimes there is a burning truck, or somebody's wheelbarrow that fell off onto the freeway, or a high speed (over 90mph) police chase, and 3 lanes are closed off so everything stops. Mostly on 580 east back to dublin. Lots of trucks

880 is ok compared to 580 east in my experience (in this stretch Fremont, Hayward, Pleasanton/Dublin)

Well, 680 is very bad too.

BUT...

680 now has an express lane where you can actually pay a toll that is deducted from your fastrack transponder and you are supposed to be able to sail past the horrible traffic.

But then you still have the evening commute northbound to contend with.

Either way, 680 and 880 are both really bad.

680 seems more direct. It starts in Dublin and goes right through Fremont.

Are you far from 84? We take 84 to Fremont from Livermore all the time and even during rush hour it doesn't take more than 40 minutes...but it might not be worth to you since you'll end on 680 anyway. Also, there's the ACE commuter train from Livermore to Fremont. You'll be going opposite to traffic on 580 to get to ACE train station. Check how far you have to go from the ACE station in Fremont to your final destination.
