I would counter that 20th in the Nation is absolutely dismal for the 8th largest economy in the world and 15% of the U.S. GDP. Again this just proves the point that California is driving away meaningful businesses that can make a huge impact on our horrible jobs climate in this state.

Informative post.

I don't think 20th is bad. Nevada didn't even make the list. Arizona is 17th, Colorado is 19th and Utah is 23rd. They are the states that are supposedly "eating our lunch."

Too funny! And I guess coming in second in the World Series or Super Bowl isn't too bad either. After all, think of all the states/teams that didn't even make it that far!

My goodness. Twentieth out of 50. Now that's something to celebrate! Y'all's funny! Even Missouri beat ya on the Executive Survey Rank. How does that make you feel?

People tend to forget that a lot of those other states give $$$$ incentives to get businesses to move there. If California gave out $$$$, everyone would be moving here -- and the taxpayers would be the ones paying.

North Carolina is ranked #1. It's the 9th time it's been ranked as such in the past 10 years.

Now you're even funnier. If you're going to be the ultimate/uber apologist for California, at least try hard to be rational.

Other states made it attractive for businesses to move/stay there because they could. California is too broke to compete. That's special!

Ya know, there's a reason even Texas is way ahead of CA across the board! TX becoming the new CA, ya think?

Did you not read the article about why North Carolina is ranked first for business climate from the OP's link?

"“I tell prospects I will work as aggressively as anybody in the state to keep taxes where they are — I understand that tax issues are drivers,” says the governor. “I can promise them the state will be as regulatory-[burden]-free as possible. We need to do whatever we can do to make it easier in our state for people to do business.

“We need to build on what we have and make sure it’s a priority for everybody. We’ve done a series of initiatives around small business and making the state as aggressive as possible for them,” says Gov. Perdue. “It’s not all just about attracting the big companies, although there is nothing that makes me happier. So I continue to focus on the low cost of doing business here and the skills and knowledge of the work force and our quality of life."

Governor Bev Perdue gets it. I would rather elect *her* than the candidates we have now.

Apparently she has a D after her name. Our pathetic Ds could take some pointers from her, but that would make sense, so naturally it'll never happen in the PRoK.
