The title of this thread is illustrative of the entitlement mentality in California. Those 35 companies do not belong to California. They are owned by people who risk their own money to make a profit. They are voting with their feet and moving to more hospitable states. California like an abusive and neglectful boyfriend who blames everyone but himself when his girlfriend dumps him.

I'm also wondering when a mod is going to correct the childish misspelling in the thread title.

do you realize many companies choose Texas over Ca 20 or more years ago: AA moved from NYC and LA to Dallas, General Telephone the same, Hilton Reservations Service moved to Dallas area and a few other coorporations.

Maybe you're not from this country, which might explain your confusion about this. In America, we have something called market competition; that means that resources will flow to those areas where they can earn the greatest return. It's not Texas's fault that California taxes the ***** out of everything that moves and produces greater difficulties for businesses to survive. If California doesn't like it, they can fix their crap so that they're more competitive. If you don't like it...well, then too bad.

The reality is there just isn't many companies moving to other states. There are, however, huge numbers of companies moving to China.

Decades ago I moved from California to Texas and lived in various parts of the state for a few years. I didn't like it. But that was the 70's. (And, by the way, there were already "gay clubs" in Austin at that time, so it's nothing new there.) But while there are more things I like about California than Texas (as it was at the time, that is), California's got major flaws, too.

Texas is doing something RIGHT in its economy, and I don't think anyone there gives a rip to outside criticism. No state can "steal" industry from another without good reason; therefore, the morons on Sacramento's hot seat should do their homework.
If Texas were doing everything right, Texas would have a population bigger than California's. They certainly have the room for it.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens when Texas has a population 3X what they have now. Will they still cherish those "slash and burn" pro-business policies?

I thought Halliburton moved their headquarters offshore? Didn't they move to Dubai?

Some states like Oregon has always had ****-poor business policies but it never stopped people from moving. And, like Vegas, most transplants didn't take jobs with them. Now they're in about the same mess as California where unemployment and loss of jobs is concerned.

I understand that Houston has a dense population.
