Any advice greatly appreciated.

Travelling from San Diego to San Francisco by car as part of our honeymoon for 5 days in two weeks. Could anyone suggest any particulary nice destinations to stop off in and visit or even to stay away from!

Many thanks, Kate (Ireland)

If you want more places to see and frequent, you can't go wrong with driving near the coast. Between San Diego and San Francisco, there are many places to stop to see. My personal favorite, since I am biased, would be to stop in Big Sur and Monterey bay area -- especially Carmel by the Sea.

Pismo Beach, Santa Barbara, up along Route 1, enjoy a day of 1 or 2 tours at Heart Castle (if that would interest you), and Big Sur.

Monterey and Santa Cruz are worthy stops. (Okay, I suppose I should recommend Carmel; I just hate the place, myself.)

You make sure you have at least two days in San Francisco.
