I love the beauty of central CA. Rolling hills, rocky coast of the Big Sur, crashing waves of the ocean, lush landscape... It makes me happy

Default Cali - I'm Joining but where to live?

Hi I saw this post on Things I Like Best about Cali...it's exciting as I will be moving from the UK to join my husband in North CA but I am deciding between living in Weed or CHico, does anyone have any ideas or info on this, my husband can work in either place with his job, I am not concerned about crime rates, hate crowds and want the best type of nature and outdoor activity possible, its important for me to live around great energy!?

Many thanks from england

Hanna

Chico is larger and a college town, so I think you'll like the energy there. Its in northern California and not terribly far from San Francisco, Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, Napa Valley, the redwoods, you wont be bored.

Weed and Chico are very different cities. I far prefer Chico, and find it a more substantial environment with a lot more to do in and around the area. Bidwell Park is a very nice asset for Chico, and the downtown area is pretty nice for such a small city. Weed on the other hand, is just too small, run down and isolated for my own taste.

Back to the original point of the thread though, I'd have to say that California probably has the most significant variance between places to live or visit.

Since the State Legislature has been controlled by Democrats for many years, and which in part has resulted in near-bankruptcy of the state, yes you should say much more. Also, I see nothing wrong with Rick's statement about homosexuality... many people agree with him.

10. Illegal immigrants in certain cities like Oakland, Berkeley, and San Francisco don't get ticketed or have their cars towed if found to be driving without a license or registration, the reasoning being that it is not their fault they they are not allowed to get licenses or register their vehicles.
Are you serious? Anyone who drives should have a driver's license and registration. And anyone who is here illegally should be deported. There are laws for a reason.
