For an alternative viewpoint:

Silicon Valley Office Market Booms

Silicon Valley Office Market Booms - WSJ.com

But the aggressive growth plans of Google, Facebook and others, driven in part by intense interest in social media and mobile computing, have shaken the Silicon Valley market in recent months. Google alone is close to leasing more than half-a-million square feet of office space near its Mountain View, Calif., headquarters and is looking for more, brokers and others say.

Google added 1,916 employees during the first quarter of this year, bringing its total work force to 26,316. The company earlier this year said it would add more than 6,000 employees in 2011, an overall increase of 25%, as it continues to expand beyond its core Web-search business.

You can't expand much in a saturated market. eBay is just expanding in a market with more elbow room, that's all.

Did anyone actually read the article?. These jobs are being moved to Texas in return for tax incentives, other words the taxpayers of Texas are subsidizing them. Typical giant-corporation BS. In poverty-stricken South Carolina,Amazon, that wonderful company, is threatening the state government that they will kill 1000 jobs if they aren't give tax breaks to their liking. Despicable.
