In my opinion it is a shame they just don't pull the plug on this project:

If you pull the plug on this then the Northeastern states would get all your $$$....we deserve it more then you do at this point....this will also make your state look bad if you pulled the project....

I think high speed rail is a great idea for California, but I don't trust the California High Speed Rail Authority. We need to replace them. Their plan does too little for too much money. We need mag lev.

The NE would actually make good use of the $$ instead of trying to pretend CA has the general widespread density to warrant HSR. Here, density is in widely separated enclaves. WITHIN such enclaves mass transit works, between them it does not.

Built it all at once or don't build it at all. The SF-LA portion will end up costing $200 billion and the Sac-SD portion will never get built.

Such a bummer this project is so expensive. After traveling through Europe and Asia on trains, I believe it would be a great asset to California.

You have large cities and small cities in between....the density is less then the NE , but theres enough there. The Northeastern HSR is expected to cost 110 Billion , but will mostly go through rural areas aside from the large cities. We also have 30 Billion $$ of Intercity routes planned and 310 Billion $$ worth of commuter rail , Light Rail and subway projects....
