Hilarious. As if Stanford would ever be desperate to build anything anywhere outside of Palo Alto. The fact that he initially invited Stanford to bid for this campus in the first place shows that he is the desperate one. LOL.

*yawns*@ the idiot Mayor who just blew it. Next time do this:

Quote:
Stanford’s exit comes as a blow to the Bloomberg administration’s contest to open a new campus that would bolster the local pool of engineering talent and help the city compete with Silicon Valley as a base for technology startups. The prestigious California university was widely seen as a front runner in the race.
Quote:
According to a person familiar with the matter, Stanford pulled its bid in part because of comments Mayor Michael Bloomberg made at a speech at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. During the speech, the mayor said Stanford was “desperate” to build the school and that the city planned to renegotiate with each of the finalists.

Please. Stanford isn't "desperate" to do anything. Bloomberg's an ass.

Amusing that Bos' MIT and Harvard are unable to spawn any valuable tech cos. despite all their alleged colleges (isn't MIT an engineering school twice the size of Stanford Engg?)

And many of SV's wealthiest engineers are college dropouts or those who view themselves as self-educated despite a fancy diploma

And almost zero tech mkt cap has ever been created outside SV or Redmond in past 25yrs, despite numerous attempts to dupe SV...hell, EastBay is an economic wasteland despite Berkeley CS...smart kids go wherever are the best career opportunities, no matter where they were born/raised or where they attended college

Truly amusing that proposed cost of this "campus" in Luddite, mass transit-centric NYC is some $3Bn...perhaps more than that of AAPL's proposed Cuper campus, in car-centric CA suburbia, a latest-tech campus for one of world's most valuable cos. which has ~$100Bn in its checking acct and 1000s of self-made millionaires who are "employees"...and who all live ~20mins drive from office (a scenic, fast drive in own new car on 280)...unlike primitive, yet absurdly costly and inefficient NYC w/3rd World stuff like subways, taxis and TownCars...
