Hey hello CD . This is my first post. I am planning on visiting southern California. I have family in San Diego but we will also drive to LA and Las Vegas. I have heard there are so many things to do in Los Angeles. But i also heard it is very spread out. I would like to know what are the interesting stuff to do around. I am 25 years old living in Michigan and i am from New York. I never been anywhere on the West Coast. I have visited Chicago recently and i liked it. I want to know what should i expect from my visit to Southern Cali and Las Vegas. Especially LA i am so anxious to be there i always wanted to go to California just never had a chance. So anything to do in LA that i might find interesting?

In L.A., I suggest visiting the Santa Monica Pier, 3rd Street Promenade, the La Brea Tar Pits and the Page Museum, the Griffith Observatory, the Grauman Chinese Theatre, etc.

Expect to spend a lot of time in a car, sitting in traffic, unless you plan out what parts of LA you want to visit with specific locations in mind.

Early Sunday mornings have the least traffic.

There are tons of existing posts on sightseeing.

Dodger game
Venice Beach
Getty Museum
Watch a TV show get filmed
etc.

Do a search on some of those things above and you'll find several threads with more stuff.

I will certainly go to the Santa Monica Pier. I have heard a lot about it. But i was also wondering where could be the best area to book for a hotel room at as i would like to be close to a few major attractions, malls, restaurants and nightclubs etc... I am really looking for the fun spots to hang out at. I am going to be visiting my cousin in San Diego and we will drive there to LA and he is not very familiar with LA.
