Talk about a terrible idea (driverless cars).

How often does your computer crash or freeze and you have to reboot?

Now imagine your car is the computer and you are travelling at 70 mph. I guess that would be the real definition of "computer crash".

Oh yeah I can just see those vehicles operating in rush hour traffic with people drafting behind other vehicles at 70 miles per hour. LOL

When they can develop the cars to drive in NASCAR then I'll feel more comfortable.

LOL...I think its a great idea but DynamoLA makes a great point about computers crashing and/or freezing.

There's probably a way to manually override the computer Im sure.

What's the big dealio. We've had drivers who appear brainless driving for some time now. I don't see the difference.

I'm not a pilot, but I've often heard that large planes nearly fly themselves (of course, they take some manning or we wouldn't have pilots).

Wouldn't this just be a similar thing? Automated, but only to a certain point.

I'm not sure. I don't know a lot about planes, and I certainly have never seen one of these cars. But that's my first take on it anyway.

I do agree about the catastrophe a crash in the system could cause. However, most modern cars are already using computer systems (or at least that's what my mechanic tells me when he bemoans working on newer cars).

I think a large population of our older or disabled drivers could use technology like this.
