Nevada and Arizona both absorb a lot of Ex Californians. Probably the biggest cultural difference I can think of between CA and these two other states pertains to the lax gun laws in these states. CA has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation. But once you cross that CA border, you're in a place where there are virtually no rules. You can even carry the gun in plain open view.

Without this getting into a debate over gun laws and the second amendment, how do these California transplants adapt to this gun culture? I don't know about you but if I'm pouring my drink at the soda fountain and I look over and see this:

I think my heart would skip a beat.

Or, maybe the ones that relocate to Nevada or Arizona are the ones that actually like guns. Maybe they felt restricted in CA in the first place. Again, I'm not trying to start a gun debate, there are already hundreds of those to read through. I just wanted to hear the Californian's view of this topic.

Doesn't bother me at all. Of course I'm one of those gun toters. Until just recently it was legal to open carry. I still can a shotgun.

That wouldn't bother me if I saw it. (the guy in the pic) I lived in N. Idaho for awhile, then E .WA. I adapted. I have friends here in San Berdoo County who carry concealed legally. I don't give it a second thought.

You can own machine guns in AZ if you qualify. I'd love to spend a few hours rocking and rolling out in the desert with a .30 or a .50 Browning.

Steal all their guns and shoot the neighbors.

It can stay civil. I started it off on a good tone. And I don't have any agenda whatsoever, except to maybe figure out where I want to live. I think Phoenix is a gorgeous city, and I could live there for cheap. But at the same time I'm more of a west coast liberal type, and I have to take that into consideration too.

A silly premise, the gun culture is alive and well in California.

The only thing I would wonder is why that cute guy is wearing that ridiculous hat.
