What more is there to say?
It's not even worth discussing.
It's been stated a number of times on this thread that a landlord can't discriminate.
Simple. Obvious.
Correct: simple and obvious.
And what person holding himself forth always as an educated and sophisticated thinker, logical, etc. would even imagine a forum like this to be a suitable place for legal advice?
Rhetorical question, of course.
And the answer is: a disingenuous bigot trolling for an argument and venue to, as always, promote his religious arrogance.
You want legal advice? Do you go to the neighborhood bar? Not the Bar Association?
Phbbbbt.

Ah, yes...the Masters of City-Data have concluded their argument with trite one or two-line remarks on their perceived notions of WesternPilgrim. Great.

Say, how about ending it with a Fontucky-induced battle cry?
He has a legit question, but whatever, right?

What's that? I already here someone's response: "It's not a legit question."

Well then, why come if you're going to just essentially troll yourselves? You saw a thread by WP and it all began...

Unfortunately, the landlord doesn't have any "business needs" relating to renting the property - for him it's not a business, just a way to pay the mortgage while living elsewhere.

Thanks for the fact-check.

But the landlord doesn't want to lie, or even be tempted to lie. He doesn't operate that way. So the law traps an honest man and lets liars get away with anything.

I am still left wondering: is there a positive legal obligation for the landlord to disclose his reason(s) for not renting the property to a specific applicant? If there is no such obligation, then it seems to me he can move on and look for a non-objectionable tenant.

This is exactly revealing. The OP persists in asking for legal advice from random strangers on a general social forum. Clearly, he's not seeking advice, he's trying to present his religious philosophy as a moral argument. Ask him why he is requesting legal advice from laypeople unsophisticated in law, whose answers could leave him in a position of deep legal / financial liability. These aren't questions from the OP, these are moral pronouncements.

Pinnacle of morality here. Too morally bankrupt to stand up to one's morals and all too ready to discriminate against others for not living up to the same. It's a delicious concoction of bigotry, hypocrisy, and cowardice.
