I would love some help from California nurses. My husband and I are thinking of a move to California next year and I was hoping to get some info on getting my RN license endorsed there. How long does the process usually take? I got my ADN four years ago and am currently taking courses to get my BSN which I wil complete next May. We would like to move soon after that, probably as soon as my license is ready. I'm mostly concerned about the education requirements. Is there any way I can find out what I may be missing now so I can take the course before I apply?

You don't need to have a BSN to endorse into California. You simply have to be an RN licensed in another state. If you haven't done so, you need to visit Board of Registered Nursing . That's the CA Board of Nursing web site.

It took three weeks from the time I applied online for endorsement until the time I received notice that my license was issued. But ... I applied online while I was visiting Palm Springs, and was able to get my fingerprints done electronically at a business in Palm Springs. If you're not in CA, getting the fingerprints done manually (on an inked card) will cause the endorsement process to take longer. Hope this helps.
