First of all I want to say I read this site all of the time and just joined so I am excited to be a member!

Anyway, I live in Seattle, Washington and many people here dislike when Californians move up here.
I disagree with that, I see them as our neighbors and love the state.

I plan on moving to Southern California next year and am wondering how Native Californians feel about out of state transplants or if they have any opinion about it at all.

I know everybody is different so I shouldn't generalize, but any input would be great, thanks.

Native Californians have always been surrounded by transplants. Nothing new and no big deal to us.

California has always drawn people from everywhere, so it's a non-issue. Other state residents might not like Californians who move to their towns and run up the real estate prices, but that train has left the station.

I have never seen anyone ridiculed for moving to California.

Ive lived around transplants my whole life and it hasnt really ocurred to me to dislike someone on that basis alone. I like or dislike someone based generally on what they do such as, for instance, having children they cant afford to raise and then burdening society with their childraising needs.

I like them fine until they start trying to change the local culture in order to make it more like the places they left.

Hell, as a fourth generation San Diegan and Californian, I wish the damn southerners who move here could speak English. You'all is not in the Queen's English.
