Skooter87,
Don't worry about paying for the trip out to California. The courts will be happy to pay for your flight. You may even have someone pick you up at your home and escort you to the state. They may even give you a pair of bracelets to wear while you are on the trip. I personally don't like jewlery and the dang things are connected together so they do make it difficult to drive, eat, or take care of any personal business.

Then again the state seems to be hurting financially and may not have the money to fly you over here. Chances are you won't be spending time here in California anytime soon.

Hope everything works out for you. LOL

My husband has an FTA bench warrant in IN and we are living in CA. Is there anyway that this can be taken care of without having to fly back to IN? What steps should he take to resolve the matter. He has been unable to obtain his drivers license here in CA due to the warrant. Any advice would be greatly appreciated....

He should contact a lawyer in Indiana. If he goes back, he'll probably wind up with some new bracelets. That might have to happen anyway but I sure wouldn't do anything without professional advise.

I got a ticket in Arizona, for possession of marijuana. The cop said it is a misdemeanor, and that if I don't go to my court date, that a warrant would be issued. I live in California though, and asked what would happen if I got pulled over back home. The cop said that they would run my name, and the warrant in Arizona would show-up. He said LA would call AZ, and if AZ wanted LA to take me in that they would, but because it was for less than 2lb, more like a lil nugg, that AZ wouldn't waste money to have me shipped to do time. The court date is in less than a week. I've been doing some research on lawyers out in AZ. On the citation I was given, it said that an attorney could enter a notice of appearance on my behalf on or before my court date. So my question is, If I get an attorney to submit a notice of appearance, will that count as me showing up to court without actually being there? Also, if I don't get the attorney, and I wait until the next time I go back to AZ, if I go after the court date, of course there will be the warrant and failur to appear, but is there a guarantee I'm going to do some time? If so, how much time? Also, I had a little bit of the codes in AZ, and for the possession of marijuana, it stated that there would be a fine to pay, and if granted probation I would have to attend a class, and or perform twenty-four hours of community restitution. Can somone please tell me what that meant, about performing 24hrs of community restituition. is that the same thing as community service or is that 1day in jail? Please, someone help me.

I am born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. There is no such thing as a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge here. The minimum charge is a class 6 felony....

God, you all REALLY need to contact an attorney. At the very minimum call the public defenders office at the court where you are too appear.

I worked with the courts for many years and I will tell you that your attorney is the ONLY person in that court room that is looking out for you. If you are a defendant, its your defense attorney or the public defender. If you are a cop or a witness, its the DA. Those are the only people in that room that truly have to watch out for what happens to you.

Why are you posting here on a relocation forum about your personal problems? I suggest that you learn from this experience and start acting in a responsible way.
