So I was listening to the news on Kim K and Kanye W having one. Technically, she's still married to Kris H. So according to the CA family law, Kris is technically going to be the father.

Exactly how corrupt and flawed is the California family law? They're going to make Kris be financially responsible for a kid that's not his and that the biological parents (Kim and Kayne) live in another state?

This is a great reason why the government shouldn't be involved in personal lives or what people do in their decisions.

Because in this case, unlike most celebrity clap-trap, it can affect regular people too. Can anyone clarify if this is true?

Yes, it can happen to regular people. Paternity fraud is common too and California courts don't care. In feminized California, men can have their driver's licenses suspended for failing to pay child support even if it's been proven he's not the father.

Presumed paternity isn't a California thing (or "feminized California" thing) it is a common law thing. Lots of states have these sorts of laws on the books. In fact back in the old days you could only overcome this presumption if you could prove that you were at sea.

Well, perhaps because I'm a guy I'm saying what I'm about to say. Whether a CA thing or a CA and other state thing, I agree, such a law is seriously screwed up. I know if I were forced to support a child that was not mine, I'd be one missing cell phone charger away from going sociopathic.

Federal law denies a passport to deadbeat dads. It's more than a California-bashing state thing.

Ok, but, we're not talking about true deadbeat dads. We're talking a woman having a child outside of her marriage with another guy but the guy she's legally married to is responsible. No matter how you slice it, that just doesn't seem right.

The so-called "Presumed Father" laws have been around in the US forever. Not just in CA. Some states are trying to get them off the books, but they remain.
