Uber liberal Bill Mayer says that CA taxes are too high and that CA could lose him. Big loss. But to hear a die-hard lib complain about CA taxes is something new.

It's a conspiracy, lib-smashers! He's trying to fool you with that swarthy, confusing Hollywood liberal media jargon! Forked tongue sayeth that which soothes you. Believe him not, or face the wrath of the CPAC All-Stars.

Then again, taxes are a *****, but so is corporate culture. At least one can be voted on.

You seem to have an obsession with taxes ... Somalia has none ... perhaps you'd be happier there?
Do you also obsess over which bread to buy when one kind costs $0.02 more than another ... even if the cheaper one is moldy?

Those are the folks who get in their cars and drive to the next county/state to get the bread that costs $0.02 cheaper (along with the plastic bags). It's the principle (?)

Anyone who aspires to make something of himself or to see his kids succeed would complain about California's high taxes. When the government takes more than 50% of the last dollar you earn then why should you bother to earn it? Libs think high-achievers will work hard regardless how much their govenment steals. Not true.

Simple question: What is the purpose of "sin taxes" on alcohol, tobacco, etc ? To decrease activity in those commodities of course. Then why hit a smart, hard working person with a high income tax? Do you want to decrease his productive activity?

No sense trying to make sense with those who can't/won't see this. It's common sense. But it's sadly lacking.

I wouldn't mind the high taxes as much if we actually got a good return on our investment instead of some of the worst roads and schools in the country. WTF are we paying high taxes for? I can't believe how some people on here try to rationalize our taxes because they have some other issue they're being defensive about.

Because only pursuits that make scobs and scobs of money are "something", "high-achieving", "smart", "hard working", "productive"? Money defines all that is good and worthy ... got it. All hail the mighty dollar.

The deniers know that these high CA taxes are a mistake. But they are determined to defend them. Using the usual methods of denying that they are high, refusing to acknowledge facts and then attacking the person who complains about them (example: Phil Michelson).

Be interesting to look back in a year or two. I'll bet that this 13% nonsense does not produce additional tax revenue. Those smart enough to earn the money to put them in the 13% bracket are not so dumb as to pay it. They will dodge it or move out-of-state. And we'll be poorer when they are gone.

Forgot method #32 used by the deniers. "Money isn't everything". "Money won't buy happiness". So give it willingly to the tax man. He needs it more than you do. He will make better use of it than you will. Stop complaining you greedy, selfish hard-working taxpayer.

A. California taxes aren't much more than Texas, maybe 3.5% more.
B. In a state with state income tax you can beat that, easy. We for instance pay no state income tax, so our effective rate is lower than Texas and most of the so called low tax states.

C. Those who whine about California taxes being too high, are ignorant of the very subject they are whining about. I find that sad
