My husband asked me last night about the average cost of utilities in Bakersfield....say for a three bedroom home or townhouse or condo. That's one thing I haven't been able to find.

I am sure its different in the summer than winter. Can anyone give me a rough estimate?

Utilities vary from a house to a condo, I own a house, it faces west, it is not good to face east or west my electric runs $100.00 to $160.00 in winter and $300.00 to $400.00 in summer in the hot monthes but my son also runs a bunch of computer equipment in his room which in the summer probably eats $100.00 of the bill, water can be from $35.00 to $80.00 a month, you would want to avoid California water service, they are the most expensive, natural gas is cheap, $25.00 a month. I have friends whith bigger houses than mine that face north or soulth and their electric bill is around $260.00 in the hot summer.
I hope that helps and it depends on how you run the AC, mine runs a lot.

Well, in Bakersfield your chances are eight out of 10 that you might just have an outhouse and those are pretty cheap to maintain.
