Google "images of donuts and broccoli" and you'll find the source site so identified.
Two years in country and not once did I see a donut shop, brocolli or otherwise; not in Seoul, not in Pusan, Suwan or Uijeongbu, not anywhere. Of course, the DMZ was not particularly known for being business friendly. But had it been, I'd have expected kimchi donuts! I'm sure they'd be a hit in CA too.

While I have to agree with the above, striking out into the hoods to try the mom & pop stores offers the pleasure of finding something new and different. This one local Cambodian-owned store south of my house makes a unique cake that sends me over the moon. It's a yeast raised square doughnut with a layer of mocha cream inside, and the whole thing is iced with dark chocolate icing and sprinkled with bittersweet chocolate chips. It is amazing.

Never had a good one. Too damn sweet!

Memo to Self: On California or Bust driving trip when able, detour to Fonty's neighborhood for donut stop. Sounds amazing.

Never been to one of these. But then I don't like Americanized Chinese food and I rarely eat donut anyway.

I used to be like Homer Simpson in my love of donuts. As a teen I would hit just about every one in Merced. In the early 80s the Cambodians starting buying them up and the quality almost uniformly went down. They all began to taste as if they were made from the same cheap mixes fried in old oil. The new owners were very, very nice people, but they couldn't match the previous owners for quality. There was one old American guy that had a place called Rollen Do-Nuts that was a Merced institution since after WWII. He never sold and his donuts were absolutely sublime. Best I've had anywhere. I haven't been down there in years and I've heard he's passed away and the new owners are cutting the size of the donuts and skimping on quality.

Its probably a good thing, but I have maybe three or four donuts a year now (instead of a couple a day). Up here in Oroville we have three shops and they're the same crappy quality that most California donut shops have now.

Drive down to Sacto and go to Marie's Donuts in a funky strip mall in North Highlands. Been around forever and serves good, old-fashioned donuts.

Thanks Curmie! I'll give them a try. I go down to Roseville and Natomas shopping fairly regularly. When I lived in Monterey (prior to 2008) I'd go to Red's in Seaside. Very good too. There's also a good shop in Los Banos on Hwy 152 (between 99 and I-5) called Donut Nation that's still really good.

Except it'll take an extra stage booster rocket to lift your heft into space if you keep eating those ... better to stick with the broccoli donut ...

Which one is the Cruller? Is it the one that is crispy on the outside and a delectable almost custardy inner layer and hollow. They are the best. I havent had a donut in years as most are full of gluten.
But, ahh the memories of hot, soft tasty donuts at 2 AM are to die for.

Have you tried the coffee at Mickey D's? It is strangely quite good and much cheaper than the Mermaid Stuff.

Broccli Donut,,If Only!!!
