Hi, I'm trying to find possible areas to move to. I live in San Bernardino currently and want to stay in California. San Francisco is a possibility but also is very expensive. I'm on social security and am receiving aid from HUD so rent may not be much of an issue, but I do need to be able to survive in the area otherwise. I'm vegan so having stores catering to that available would be good. I'm also attending college so schools would have to be available. I prefer less hectic nature areas but having no means of transportation I do need to be in a somewhat large city just for availability of things I may need. I'd also really prefer it to never get above 65 degrees but I could live with it alittle higher if possible, at the very least not eternal apocalyptic summer like San Bernardino is. I think that's about what I'm looking for generally, if there are any areas that fit the description if you have anything to add that would be nice. Thanks.

Monterey, Santa Cruz, if you can afford the rents. Plenty of natural food stores. Cool weather. Colleges.

Can't recommend Humboldt unless you like pot growers and highest per capita violent crime in the state. Humboldt State University is the NYU of the west: crazy far FAR left politics (but without the published profs). The local community college just got its accreditation back. That tells you the type of school it is (for two year study).

Think long and hard and visit the area you are interested in for a few days.

I need to relocate myself and everywhere is SO expensive. :-)

Arcata (Humboldt County) or Santa Cruz (it has public transport).

Specifying that you require 65 degrees is ridiculous, of course. Everyplace on the coast gets into the 70's and occasionally the 80's, even places known for the fog, like Berkeley and Santa Cruz. If for some strange reason you need the coolest weather available, San Francisco would be the ticket.

Santa Cruz or Santa Rosa if you can afford the rents there, coastal Humboldt if you can't. I personally love Humboldt but it's not for everyone.

Eureka Arcata area has three good healthfood stores. There is HSU and college of the Redwoods. Cheap rent in a not so bad area can be found. There are little ocean communities close as well.

Those could all work, and I'd add Monterey, Pacific Grove, Carmel and Pacifica
