So what California city do you think has the people with the worst attitudes?
I've met rude people everywhere. 1 of the worst however is in the Inland Empire, Riverside, the Coachella Valley, people can be downright nasty. Everytime I go out anywhere, I'm used to saying "please" and "thank you" even though I don't need to, I just like being courteous and civil. In that area though...ugh...the courtesy is rarely returned. They look at me weird for being courteous or they turn it into some type of challenge or pissing contest complete with a staredown. It's really weird out there. I don't really like the locals. The out of towners keep the place civilized.

You know how when you're an urban Californian and you go somewhere like rural Utah, and you walk into a bar or restaurant and the music stops and everybody turns and looks at you?

That happened to me and my family in Corona. My hometown.

That's strange. It's not like they're remote backwoods hillbilly's or anything. Some seem to be trendy with the tattoos, piercings, the skinny jeans, the MMA shirts, and that whole look. They also have Internet and television so I'm not sure what causes their rudeness. Possibly just hate their lives and don't have any ambition? Not sure.

Two of us might have been recognized as employees of the local Denny's.

I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying that TV and Internet causes their rudeness. If so, then, how do you know?

Dunno whether "driving" counts on the "rudeness meter", but actually I'm always impressed at how little hassle I run into whenever driving in the L.A. area, especially considering the typical volume of traffic there, nearly 24/7 these days. Folks just generally seem to drive better there, yielding the passing lane, merging into traffic, signaling, etc….maybe just 'cuz they have to do so much of it.

Yet almost as soon as I get anywhere out near the 'burbs, it seems like there's usually way more examples of get-outta-my-way crankiness, impatience and generally 'aggressive driving'. Although kinda like their occasional face-to-face counterparts, drivers particularly around Sacto and the Bay area also seem like some of the rudest in the state!
