Can anybody tell me how long it takes to receive word from EDD regarding disability? I had abdominal surgery last month and the doctor had me fill out the paperwork a week later when I went for my follow-up appointment . He gave me six weeks of disability. It's been three weeks and no word from the agency regarding this. Any information would be appreciated.

Did you file the paperwork with the state? You should do that, and include the info from the doc, as I recall. When I applied in 2005, it went quickly. Definitely sooner than 3 weeks. Call them up and ask them what to do. I found them to be a good agency to deal with. If your doc said he'd file the papers, I think the problem is with your doc delaying, not the state.

^^^This. Spouse was on it in '05. However, a lot has changed in CA state govt. since then, fewer employees to process things. Check with Dr. office & the state, & be proactive, don't just wait around.
