Alturas is my town of choice, for several reasons: a. Far from metropolitan areas b. small town ambiance c. safe for seniors d. adjacent to mountains for scenery, camping, hunting, fishing, etc. e. low rent and/or real estate prices. e. 4 seasons.

Am moving to carlifonia in january but am trying to do early research about the place plus i dnt really have friends there and i think i will need an affordable place

If you want guidance / advice, start a new thread and include specifics in your post.
If you're going to be moving to a specific area (like L.A., San Francisco, San Diego, etc.) use one of the sub-forums for best results.
But you need to be much more specific about what you're looking for and especially exactly (or close to it) how much you can afford a month on rent.
California is a huge and diverse state (both culturally and ecologically) so you need to be clear about what you need and what you want.
