Too many variables. Plus, different areas of CA will be more like the closest neighboring state, which can be Arizona, Nevada and Oregon.

Where I live now, CA is most like OR. But, that's geographically, and culturally. Politically and economically, another state may be more similar.

So, I couldn't answer your poll.

California is really diverse. The desert is most like Arizona, Northern California is most like Oregon. Southern California is completely different from Northern California and the coast is different from the inland areas. The states that are least like California are the southern states, which are far more humid. I couldn't pick one state that was like California, so I couldn't answer the poll either.

Completely agree with this. California has the highest and lowest points in the lower 48. In addition, we've got the majority of the west coast, incredible Sierra Nevada range, Redwoods (both coastal and sequoias). Then you have all of SoCal with huge cities like LA and others that continue to the border - the coastal concrete jungle. This is the most populous region in the nation. How about Palm Spring and Death Valley, etc..? Tahoe anyone?

What are you even comparing in terms of criteria? Pick something. Or is one just supposed to use their own subjective definition based upon which slice of CA they live in or consider ideal? For me, if it doesn't have high mountains and a rugged coast, forget it. That eliminates the majority on your list. See what I mean.

Derek

Considering everything, I would say both Oregon and Washington, though I voted to WA due to the high tech jobs and higher cost of living in CA and WA.

All 3 share the same west coast, and mountain ranges basically splitting the states vertically down the middle. All 3 are liberal in the coastal cities, more conservative east of the mountains and in the farming communities.

Yep, I'd pick the same. Yet somebody living in Palm Springs or San Diego may pick Arizona for the heat and endless sunny days. It definitely will vary.

Any state that's wholly controlled by Democrats and there is a bunch of them. None can equal Calif. for Communist party hellhole. No state can equal our highest income tax, gas tax or cost of gas, Cost of car registration, insurance and smog check, sales tax. constantly increasing taxes.
