I am going camping at Middle Creek Campground for a couple of weeks. Very excited, it looks beautiful there. I want to camp there as I get a very good rate, love to camp, and want to check out the area for possible "permanent" move.

If anyone knows about the cell coverage (from Verizon) would you let me know? I am hoping I might be able to use my cell-phone to call as well as google/internet to find my way around the area.

Thanks in advance, for any help

I camp a lot at lake pillsbury which is just a bit north. I like the area, the national forest has lots of trails and good shooting spots.

No cell reception where we camp, but where I camp is more remote than upper lake.

Thanks! So there are other campgrounds nearby? The Lake sounds good to me, I love to be able to swim some. I did have a kayak, but not now.

You might be a little disappointed, the lakes get drained to fill lower or upper lake, I cannot remember which. Lake pillsbury is on the smaller side and pretty shallow, with the drought it does not have much water now, but it should have enough to kayak or swim if you can hump it to the water.

In the summer lake pillsbury has 3 or 4 different campgrounds. I normally camp in off season where only one is open. All these are pit toilets and no potable water.

Ok, I found the page here that lists them all. I appreciate your input. I'm used to hauling water, I tent camp, nothing fancy. I know it's hot down there now, and I live in Eureka where it's pretty moderate. I am not sure how well I would do without water for swimming.

I'm just feeling a bit discouraged about the campgrounds I'm "not" finding, that I can afford anyway lol

I usually camp at oak flat, it runs $10 a night with 1 car. I usually go thanksgiving weekend when things cool down. I prefer fall/winter camping because of less people, it is cooler and fewer bugs.

You could camp in unimproved national forest areas for free.

I just pay half that since I am a senior. I'm a gal, so I do need to be careful where I camp, well, as careful as you can be in today's world, lol I was hoping for a cooler time to camp, so maybe I'll wait a bit. Especially if there isn't much water to swim in. What about drinking water and bathing? I don't see any National camps with showers. I only get my senior discount with National/Federal campgrounds.

The free ones would be a bit "too" rough for me Thank you though, I do appreciate your replies and info

You have to being in drinking water, they have non potable water during camping season in the camp grounds. You would be stuck with sponge baths.

I don't mind just swimming with some biodegradable (doc bonners) soap, but I am just wondering if the Middle Creek CG is going to have enough water there. I talked to a forestry agent, said he was new on the job after not being able to answer most of my questions, lol So I haven't gotten any good info, except from you, so again, I appreciate your help
