Can anyone tell me of a good place to live in California that offers affordable housing for seniors and disabled with nice weather year round?

I am looking for a town with:

Sunshine
Comfortable Weather
Low Humidity
Low Crime
Section 8 Friendly or has a County Housing Authority
Clean
Safe
Trees & Green Grass
Hi, Sorry, I turned off messaging because of a trollish person. My, I have a reputation :-)

All counties have housing authorities, but not all counties have open Section 8 lists. Most cities have subsidized housing, though, which you can get into, which are often Section 8 based pricing. The problem is that many have very long waiting lists. But, if you're okay with living in the boonies, you shouldn't have to wait too long. I live in the boonies - well, a small town of about 5,000 people. It's beautiful and big enough for me, so I'm happy here.

Your easiest bet would be to get on the Section 8 waiting lists for Crescent City/Del Norte County and Tehama/Plumas/Lassen counties which are lumped together. The waiting list is less than a year. But, you'll get priority if you are already here. Look at the places that have subsidized housing which is cheap, which is what I did.

Crescent City:

Housing Authority

Compared to illinois, you'll probably love the weather. People in CA are spoiled. My motto is: It ain't too hot and it ain't snowin'. It can be rainy and windy and foggy, but not all the time. But it don't snow, and it never gets too hot. There's about zero traffic, no lines anywhere, and lots of great places to go outside. Very dog friendly. We have a Walmart, a Home Depot, a Big 5, as far as big box stores, but no Costco or other big stores. If that's enough for you, you'll probably like it here. There's always Amazon Prime.

Lassen/Plumas/Tehama Counties Section 8 list is open:

PCCDC Housing Services

Those areas are hotter and may have snow, but it's a pretty area, mostly pretty rural.

Red Bluff is probably the biggest town, and it's a nice town. They have a rodeo, and it's pretty close to Redding for great shopping. Brutally hot, long summers, though. I used to live in Redding.

Any other Section 8 lists or even subsidized senior housing facilities that i know of have very long waiting lists.

I've written many long, detailed posts on this subject, though, so if you want more info, search my posts.

I don't blame you for wanting to move here at all. If I never see another snowflake in my life, I'll die happy.

Where I live now, there's not a ton of culture or great shopping, but there are endless beaches and woods to walk in with hardly any people on them. I love it. And you can always dress for rain and bundle up a bit, when necessary. We had maybe two frost advisories last year. That's it for cold weather. And the high for the year has been something like 80 degrees, if that. We pretty much live year-round in the 60's.

Hope you can make it here. Good luck.

OP;
You might find Google St View a useful tool to explore cities in CA. Just go to the Google web page, enter a address in Google Search of some location in a city you are interested in, a Google Map should come up and click on "street view" . Then using your computer mouse, you can move around the different streets in the city......almost feels like you are actual there, driving around town exploring. Here is a address in Crescent City:
751 2nd St, Crescent City, CA 95531 (it's the Post Office) Give it a try. I have explored Crescent City using Google St and recently, Ferndale, CA
