Wow. Just to put this some of this into perspective, we bought a fully furnished mobile home in a quiet 55+ senior park in St Pete, Fl recently for $9,700. Had to put another $1000 into it for washer and dryer, W&D elect and plumbing hooks ups, etc. The lot rental is $297 a month, no buy in, and the beaches are about 25 minutes away on the buses. It's Florida, but it's pretty darned nice here. Most of the people in the park are from Canada, Nova Scotia, and places like that, and they mostly leave for 6 months in the summers. I am always amazed at California prices, and even more by Hawaii prices, which is where my wife's sons live. The downside here is the summers, which are hot and humid. But the winters are fantastic. What winter?

If I could pull off what Jim Rockford did (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rockford_Files) I would.

It's funny you ask this because the ex and I mused that the only people that had better views than either of our houses were the people with the trailers right on PCH and they paid a fraction what we did. At that point, we realized that the joke was on us. lol

I can't imagine ever living in a trailer (I don't know why I'd feel vulnerable), however it does sound appealing to be that close to the ocean and in Encinitas, one of the few parts of SD I like! Interesting thread.
