I couldn't care less about the ocean. I don't want to be swallowed up in a tsunami or touch a fish. And oceans tend to attract crowds while I try to avoid them at all costs.

Waking up to a view of San Francisco Bay from the Eastbay Hills runs a close second.

For me, it's the coast or the mountains at least 6500' (the higher the better) above sea level. Nothing in between suits me.

Even in S.C. county it's easy to find empty beach and miles of walking without seeing people which is also my preference.

Win win! Fish don't like to be touched by people! They will appreciate you staying away

I am at the base of a mountain...a quick lovely motorcycle ride through this mountain takes me to the Pacific Ocean...this sight would never grow old...it takes my breath away every time I see it.

I would love to quit my day job...after I win the lottery....purchase a beautiful high powered Yacht that can sail the wide open seas far far away. I would live in it and visit as many ports as I could exploring the land as much as possible...then off again to sail the beautiful seas to the next adventure.

I would be a mature Laura Dekker in a big modern comfortable yacht vs. the Guppy!

Never ever, ever does it get old. Sure, we may take it for granted every once in a while, but that doesn't take away from the impact it has on our psyche. Like another poster said, sometimes when it's quiet at night and you can hear the waves and it reminds you how lucky you are.

I could go on a very sappy monologue about my weirdly romanticized love of the ocean, but I won't delve into that.

The family's beach house (soon to be sister's) has the rare location to have magnificent views of the both the Pacific & Haystack Rock and back deck view highest mountain & the OR's coast range. If the beach was fogged in, the mountains was available. Awesome to view the rising and setting of the sun. A, 5 minute walk down the hill takes you to a great salmon river.

Because the home is in a very small town, the night sky is unbelievable.

I voted that the magic never wears off. Depending on my situation, job wise, finances, I would love to live within a comfortable biking distance from the beach. But if not, I aim to live within a 30 minute drive of it because it is something I need to experience at least once a week when I relocate to LA. As a tourist, I just always smiled while on the beach, enjoying the ocean breeze, the sand, the people, the sun... it is magical and I will never tire of it when it will be so close to me soon.
