That is great news, indeed. I wonder if they will occupy the building in Glendale that will soon be vacated by Nestles' They're moving out and taking their $26-billion-a-year food conglomerate with them. Now if we could find someone else who'll bring in another $20 billion, we'll be be even-steven

Not the same thing in the least.

1. That '26 billion' in revenue has very little impact on the SoCal economy because that's what the company makes in sales and any profit from that goes to Nestle USAs foreign owner.

Otoh

2. The 6 billion Netflix is spending is direct investment into the local economy and literally is a boost to thousands of workers in the industry.

Apples and Oranges.

Hey, don't knock apples and oranges. Slice up some banana, throw in a few grapes and you've got a nice fruit salad ... which is pretty much what Hollywood is. Kidding aside, the closure will affect 1,200 employees. If they don't want to move to Virginia or Ohio, they're pretty much out of a job.

But wait. You don't think that Nestles' generated any income for the state? They bottle Arrowhead water, make delicious cocoa and I don't have to tell you about those amazing Toll House cookies. Yum. Plus, they paid taxes on all that income.

The one bright spot is Nestles' won't need to fight environmental groups over whether they have the right to take any more water from the San Bernardino Forest. Guess they can start drawing it from someplace back east. You know how those pesky environmentalist can be such a pain in the neck. I imagine the huge tax incentives the state of Virginia offered to them made a bigger impact. It's better for them to move. The economy back there hasn't been doing so well so this may be just what it needs.

Another thought. Seeing how Netflix is doing this to help the infrastructure, I wonder if they'll be repaving some of the roadways. It's already a given that all those actors and stage hands will need hotel rooms, cars and fine dining. A big shot in the LA arm. I can see how making movies and schmoozing with Hollywood elite would be so much better for the residents of the city. Yeah, it's a win-win for SoCal. Asbsolutely.

So much for all the good jobs leaving CA! Wonder what the naysayers will say?
