So I moved to Davis from the midwest and I really do like it here at first it was like paradise and still is at times. I have listened to others complain about our landlord here in Davis...but the place is decent. Landlord is just not cooperative and you have to fight for anything. I recently got a call from vacaville with a much better landlord. Apts seem about same in quality. But I don't think I will like Vacaville as much as I do Davis. And so I keep thinking is it better to live somewhere less desirable to get the better Landlord or just make do with this landlord in Davis to stay in the town I love? I know very little about vacaville but I do know Davis. Does anyone know both of these towns well enough to comment?

There are more landlords in Davis.

Vacaville is nothing like Davis. If you've ever been to the factory outlets, even, I'm sure you know that. Davis is an upscale university town and Vacaville is not.

If you love Davis, then just find a different place to rent in Davis.

You might find Dixon or Woodland to be a reasonable compromise between Davis and Vacaville.

Vaca ville literally means cow town.

Um...wouldn't it be easiest just to move to another building in Davis? Or is your story missing something? Your post makes it sound like a company town, or something.

Davis is so much better than Vacaville, I wouldn't think twice. People don't usually write off an entire town just because they have problems with their LL.

Vacaville is very suburban and not one little bit like Davis, and neither are Woodland or Dixon like Davis. Davis is unique, it's University town and there simply aren't any towns nearby that are similar. East Sacramento or somewhere near there is only place I can think of where you might not feel too awful about moving out of Davis.

Just drive down the 80 freeway 21 miles to Vacaville and spend a couple hours exploring the town. Vacaville has a lot of shopping options for a small town but don't make the mistake of going to the outlet mall on a weekend. For grocery shopping check out the Nugget Market if you like Whole Foods type places or Walmart Neighborhood Market for cheap prices. You will probably save a lot on rent in Vacaville.

Vacaville is a bay area exurb. Just a suburban bedroom community, in the extreme periphery of the bay area. For the bay area, it is one of the more affordable places to live.

Davis is a pricey, insular, college town about 15 miles from Downtown Sac.
