Also, I think there's a law in CA that requires private insurers to renew a policy once, after a disaster...
Yes, CA insurance is available but as I understand it covers property only and not contents.

As far as canceling , maybe they can’t when the disaster declaration is active, but they will soon after. For Redding, CalFire issued a new probability map for fires. From what I understand from long term residents, the insurance companies will use that map to raise rates and decline coverage for people in the “danger zones”.

Google is doing very poor job showing this info to people who want to donate to help #campfire animals!

One can also donate to "Butte Humane Society" which had been taking animals in, via their Amazon wish list (just found this link and will donate there too):

And I think the first link is where resources for more critical animals right now.
Poor cat I hope this cat heals. I've seen pictures of cats which healed after Sonoma fires, you can't even recognize them and they look healthy with excellent fur.

Thank you! It's comforting to know the cat may heal completely and return to their joyful and playful life.

A sheep rescued by a reporter, who found it inside a pond in a spot that was spared by the fire:

Once he realized he'd have to put his phone down and use two hands to get it out LOL.

Thank you for this. I agree . . . the media in general is focusing on the Red Cross for donations. Our local NBC station did a telethon yesterday but all donations went to the Red Cross. Not knocking the Red Cross - they certainly do provide a needed service - but I wish there was more publicity for other groups doing rescue, recovery, and support.

Here's a link to an article that appeared in Euronews regarding animal rescue at both the Camp Fire and the Woolsey Fire.

And here's a link to the Paradise Post, the local newspaper. Lots of information there.

Sadly a lot of the donations to the Red Cross will never be used to help. They go to the directors, officers etc for other uses.

And that is exactly my issue with them and similar organizations. Somewhere in these threads about the fires I posted about my experiences dealing with these types of organizations in my corporate life. I had a chance to experience their inner workings . . . their overhead is incredibly high and the funds that actually make it to worthy causes are diminished because of that. Not to mention their sometimes skewed concept of who is the most deserving of their monies. Give me the smaller groups and small businesses and that's where my contributions will go.

I don't believe anything like this would be legit in CA. I know I don't have a choice as to who provides my electricity where I live. I never have, in CA. Some towns create their own public utility districts, which are usually great, but you don't have a choice. At least nowhere I have lived here in CA, all over northern CA, with different providers in different areas or cities. I can only guess there is a rule that only that provider can operate in a certain area.
I was there and walked out to the front room to see the guy. It certainly may have been a scam. Dumb me, I should've reported it to management. He was even allowed to look at her pg&e bill. Although I am not sure what he could do with that info but it cannot be good.

I'll be prepared next time and warn my clients. THANK YOU!

We donated to Red Cross yesterday because the local TV station we were watching made it easy, like text this number to donate.
