I'm heading to SLO on Friday and plan on taking a little road trip down to SB on Saturday and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on things to do, see, bars to go to, etc. I used to live about 60 miles north of SB and have only been there once and that consisted of hanging out at the Santa Barbara Brewing Company on State Street. Any suggestions on what may be fun would be greatly appreciated.

They don't have any good theaters yet. No Edwards, Cinemark, AMC, Pacific, or anything. La Cumbre Plaza and Paseo Nuevo are some good open-air malls. The downtown is quite cool too. Goleta has some good retail stores. An hour away is Oxnard and Ventura in southern california. San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara are about the same. SLO doesn't have a mall yet, and Santa Barbara has no good theaters yet.

Default How long are you going to be in SB?

For great food: La Super Rica Taquaria on Milpas in SB:

Directions:to: 622 N Milpas St, Santa Barbara, CA 93103 - Google Maps

Or you can go to Freebirds in Isla Vista - similar to Super Rica - off Embarcadero del Norte. Can then stroll on the beach in IV or Goleta State Beach next to UCSB (bring flip flops due to the tar in the sand).

Via Vai pizza in Montecito on Valley.

Besides hanging out at brewing companies and bars, what do you like? Ever been to Cold Springs Tavern? It's on the way if you use highway 154 on your trip from SLO. coldspringtavern.com

The typical includes lower State Street, Sterns Warf, the beaches (East and Ledbetter), the harbor, the Courthouse observation deck and second-story court room, the mission, the zoo.

Less typical for tourists but great do do anyway: hiking.

Hiking sounds great. I'm only going to be in SB for a few hours most likely so I'm trying to find something fun to do. Cali-girl (aka size 4) has sold me on the Mexican restaurant for lunch. I'm from MA so Taco Bell is about as good as it gets. I know I'm going to hit up some wineries in Los Olivos on the way back up to SLO.
