Well, they say Berkeley and Oakland do, because they get the cooling effects of the fog in the summers, so they stay relatively cool. But it depends on what your idea of "best weather" is. If you prefer a warmer climate, you'd choose a warmer area around the Bay.

Are we talking--major city? Or even small towns? Mill Valley and a few other locations in Marin County are quite nice, too. I like Santa Cruz, for the same reason as I like Berkeley/Oakland, but whether or not it's part of the SF Bay Area is debatable. A few commuters to Silicon Valley might think it is, but generally, it's considered part of Central Cal.

I actually think many of the coastal valleys tend to have the best weather. In my opinion, the central valley tends to be a little too hot in the summer and places on the coast or near the bay area too chilly. That leaves other places such as the Silicon Valley, San Ramon Valley, Diablo Valley, Napa or Sonoma Valleys. But then again, I like really warm, dry weather, as long as it isn't 100+ on a daily basis.

What does “best weather” mean to a person? Some like the two season climate of western CA. (Boring IMO). Many others do prefer a four season climate found in eastern CA. Snow in winter!

These “best “ threads really say little. Beyond personal opinion

Agreed. A lot of people when it comes to the stereotype of California weather think of the mild weather as the best weather though.

Agree that "best" is always subjective, but I love the weather in East Bay. It's a bargain compared to living on the peninsula too.

Vallejo easily. The most underrated weather in all of the Bay Area. Richmond comes in a close second.

Best is subjective. Do you want four seasons? Then consider Tahoe/ Mammoth/ Big Bear/Mt. Shasta.

Do you prefer three seasons- no winter snow? Sacramento and any point within 50 miles of Sacramento has three seasons.

Do you want two seasons? The bay area and any point north or south 150 miles from the bay area, or Southern California fits the bill.

Do you prefer one season? Then move to Palm Springs.

Best? What's your preference?

San Jose is it if you don't mind using a bit of ac and prefer suburbia.
Lots of upper 80s and 90s during peak summer, whick makes for great swimming weather.
Cools down quickly in the summer because of location.
Cloudy, but not cold winter's(this year is an exception)
It's has the perfect suburban weather.

If you prefer a more walkable city, you're going to have to get close to the water
