Eligibility is determined by the following criteria for persons 65 and older:
  • A person at high risk to exposure to the coronavirus
  • A person in a position where their economics are below 600% of federal poverty
  • Someone who has been impacted by or exposed to COVID-19

All senior centers served by the Los Angeles Department of Aging are closed to the public until further notice. In the meantime:
  • The Los Angeles Department of Aging and Office of Mayor Eric Garcetti are engaging additional partners for an emergency food delivery program to assist LA’s most vulnerable seniors.
  • Seniors may receive deliveries of five meals, delivered twice a week. Meals can be frozen and heated up in their microwaveable containers.
  • As of the beginning of April 2020, seniors may sign up for meals by calling the Department of Aging at 213-482-7252.
  • Meal service will be prioritized for seniors who are experiencing food insecurity, including financial hardship.
  • The Department of Aging is continuing to deliver packaged and frozen meals for older adults enrolled in their meal program. If a senior is not aware of who their meal provider is, they may call 1-800-510-2020 for assistance and, if not enrolled in the Department of Aging meal program, can call the department at 213-482-7252 to enroll. The phone line is open Monday through Sunday from 8 AM - 5 PM

I agree! And another industry that Newsom is trying to help with this program is agriculture, it sounds like he's going to push for lots of locally sourced produce to be included in the menus.

This IS a great service although as a senior, I could certainly get by with TWO meals a day!

If I am reading this correctly, a person could make 76000 dollars and still qualify for the program.

yes, from what I have read they need to also meet one of the other criteria but I haven't seen the official language on this.

I was going to say that it seems like a very high amount but then I saw this is in the California section.
