I have a 6 months contract job in pleasanton, and looking forward to rent a car and room or appartment cheap enough to afford; nearest cities 12 miles or less that offer me the best price, I will take.

Job is located at:
Stoneridge Mall Rd
Pleasanton, CA

I found the following nearest cities to pleasanton, but which is the cheapest, best roads, and low crime rate? Any link or referral to available rental space will be appreciated, perhaps a room mate too?

Dublin, CA (3.5 miles ),
Sunol, CA (4.8 miles ),
San Ramon, CA (7.6 miles ),
Livermore, CA (8.2 miles ),
Blackhawk-Camino Tassajara, CA (9.8 miles ),
Fremont, CA (11.3 miles ),
Danville, CA (11.5 miles ),
Fairview, CA (11.7 miles ).

What about Pleasanton itself?? It's a nice, safe upper middle class town . Why commute and pay $4/gal for gas. There are apartment complexes near the Stoneridge Mall. Dublin would be a good second choice. Forget about Blackhawk. It's a gated community with million dollar mansions around a golf course and no rentals.

Thanks a lot, for the pointer.. I checked Pleasanton, and find for a $1000+, I need something cheaper, no luxury! I will continue to hunt in Dublin as well. Thanks a lot

You'll find that the rent around Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon, etc. is pretty much the same and $1000/month sounds about right for rent in that area.

Can you use BART to get where you need to go? I know people in Pleasanton that take BART to San Francisco and the East Bay regularly...
