At one point Friday morning, the Francis Creek Shell station was selling the cheapest gas in the country at just 75 cents a gallon.

One can just play dumb and tell the CA government that "I no spik innnnnnglish" and they'll be treated well and get freebies in most cases IMO.

Also, don't forget to change the last name to one an illegal would have.

Now the goverment just runs roughshod over everyone and everyone keeps voting for Democrats. They have no fear of getting voted out.

Whatever, I agree it's small potatoes right now but it is annoying to see the money get redirected to the general fund all the time.
There’s a reason the general fund is the fall back for all of these tax increases.

That’ll be the California excise tax in about 5-10 years.

I like collecting Social Security and Medicare as a retired person like yourself.
There are plenty of people collecting SS and Medicare not paying $3-$4 a gallon in gas.

And your point? Consider selling your car and take public transport if you can’t afford the price of fuel

It appears over 50% of those influencial to California policy making are either former immigrants who come from countries with higher taxes on car use and subsidies transit much better or those who would rather live in European Countries and think California should follow European Union ideas with socialized everything. Thats why ever increasing taxes are always approved. Though the real issue is where all those taxes are going, if its all going into a black hole than not even European level taxation would resolve any social issues in the state nor pave the road infrastructure better nor give us an descent HSR system.

Yes! In a state with the highest poverty rate in the country, instead of trying to lower taxes to help people survive, just ask them to sell their cars. That should do the trick.
