How about them Teslas (et. al). Although once enough gasoline powered vehicles are off the road to where no amount of gas tax will matter, I'm sure they'll just find some other way to get the equivalent amount out of EVs. It just won't be at a gas station.

So you are trying to beat us? Here in Washington it's been 49.4 cents. Not to worry, our state house has passed a bill that would raise it to 57 cents, now waiting on the senate.

I just don't get people so willing to pay taxes, and for what?

They already went after them. They added a $100 annual fee for electric cars.

Without taxes we’d be like the autonomous zone in Seattle. Additionally, not all of us voted for it. I didn’t, but I’m not going to obsess over a 12 cents a gallon increase with an annual increase for inflation.

Given everything that’s going on, a 3.2 cent a gallon tax increase is pretty far down on the “Holy Sh**” scale.

People generally don't pay attention to those "Funded by" signs next to construction sites on the side of the road, they should. The information is easily accessible, no one bothers to look at it though it seems. SB1 is helping fund the widening of a notoriously clogged section of freeway near where I live.
The link you posted is state sponsored propaganda. Look more closely and you'll see that a small percentage of the gas tax is being used on roads. Much of it is used for other infrastructure projects such as mass transit projects, and as of late, more and more is being diverted. Maybe you're ok with that, but don't be fooled by their pitch.

Do you not want them to report and show what projects the gas tax are funding or something? Pretty sure it's a requirement they do so. Not sure how that's "propaganda".

And yeah I'm ok with mass transit projects being funded with it to improve our transportation system.

They should compromise so that the increase is just one or two cents. But politicians and good sense rarely go together these days.
