I'm looking to move somewhere where it's sunny and hot/warm with bright blue skies, palm trees, very little snow, and somewhat affordable. I've researched Phoenix and Las Vegas but it seems like these cities are already becoming too expensive like LA and too many people are moving to them

If you want to be in California, and you want "cheap" then the desert areas of El Centro/Westmoreland/Mecca/Bombay Beach could be a choice.

Hot? Oh yeah! (If you've never been in HOT weather, you will be!)

Bright blue skies? Oh yeah. Rarely a cloud.

Palm trees? There's a palm tree grower out there by Salton City.

Snow? LOL, only if it snows at 75 degrees!

Forgot to mention "Slab City..."

Dust/sand storms/haboobs might be another story...

Lots of small towns around Redding. I think it beats Vegas & Phoenix.

Go visit Redding, stay overnight in August when it's about 106, and be sure to stop at Walmart to see who your neighbors will be. I have a brother there, and one night at a motel there was enough for us. We stay on I5 now and drive right past it.

When Redding still had a Pepsi Plant I was just starting my career and being the low man on the totem pole they were assigned to me as my client so between working there and taking my boat there I’ve spent a decent amount of time there.

It is really really hot in Redding and takes a different kind of person to thrive there.
Have you ever noticed that people who work the graveyard shift are usually a half bubble off?
That is how a good portion of those that I’ve met there are like.

I don’t much care for Vegas either but it does have very affordable housing within an hour of the airport.
It’s also an easy airport with cheap flights to just about everywhere.
I know a guy that retired there just for that reason so he could see his grandkids that were scattered around the country easier.

Flying out of Redding would be miserable and then you would be stuck with the Sacramento airport which probably has the highest prices in America.

106? I was in the area in mid-October a few years ago, and it was 115! You couldn't pay me to live anywhere near there. But that may be heaven to the OP.

But IDK about the palm trees. Is that a hard-and-fast requirement, OP?
