Am looking into relocating to Sonora through my job. Have been hearing about the meth and ensuing crime problems there. Are these issues still prevalent? Can anyone attest to this or share their experiences living in this community? Thanks so much! Drew

I drive thru there once in awhile and it seems to be a nice place. I also know a few business owners there and they say there are no major problems.
I hope this helps its not a bad place. Here is my Home (http://www.newtohavasu.net/ - broken link)

My wife and I are from Sonora. Just in the last ten years has there been real problems. Many gang issues have came up from the gangs moving up from Modesto. The population is doubling up recently, the 108 does not support this much travel. A stoplight was installed in Jamestown.

When we lived there the most crime was stolen firewood or tools.

Tuolumne County and many other foothill counties have experienced a decrease in the amount of meth manufacturing as the gangs that make it have found it's just as easy to make it in the valley. Still a few meth monsters running around in the woods, but I'd bet you'll find them anywhere.

Sonora always has seemed to be a big city to me, I hardly recognize it from the '70's.

Had a friend who stayed near Sonora probably more close to West Point. Told me she didnt have much problems tied to her house, but if you left outside all will come against you. As in lots of crime ect... She was nearly ram for her grocceries ( happen more than once to her in Sonora ) at one point and no one was around to help. The guy only stop taking the grocceries because he found someone else who wouldnt put up a fight. I would recommand you to shop outside Sonora like near Sacramento.

it only takes one tower and and 7 repeaters to cover 100%
of the California's foothills and mountain range the radio waves will reach
in all of Valleys and 20 ft. underground this technology good for e911
It's already being done in my neighborhood. A friend of mine has a couple of towers and repeaters which he serves me wireless internet through a couple of T-1 lines. He's moving up to microwave shortly which will really increase the bandwidth. There is an effort underway already in the 5 county area for wide spread broadband. Here is their google group info;

I responded to your input on page two thank you very much for
corresponding with me the marketing company is now putting together
all the advertisements needed to blanket the mother lode,as far as
Highway 50 to Highway 41 no more need for copper wires
or cables the signal travels directly to a fiber-optic connected tower
40 mi. away so the throughput should be close to 99%
which means better quality we will be offering a second service
T-2 10MB for $50 a month including all the other features
I wrote about on page two, and T-3 will be a dollars a month

this will allow for 3o frame per second video quality to communication
please pass the word to anybody that would like to work from home
anywhere in the mother lode because that's where we see the customer
being under served with high-quality broadband at reasonable prices.

Stores are in the works, workshops are being set up online and off-line
to help people understand the services.

Its my opinion it starts
within 60 days but as with anything sometimes they go smoothly
and sometimes there's delays,

The technology has been running
all through the United States for over five years in every kind of terrain
and weather conditions in two weeks all the data will be complete

the company is on its fifth CPU and a chips will be processed in Texas
for the wireless router, the cell phone software will be at a downloaded
instantly. when service is live
