I'm 18 years old and am graduating from high school in June. I'm not too sure if I want to go to college. I'm considering moving to California, but none of my friends or family want to move out there with me. I would like to have a roommate to split housing costs with. If there is anyone out there who wants to move and is around the same age as me, let me know!

So what kind of job does an 18 year old with just a high school education get to support himself in one of the most expensive cities in the county? How much money do you have saved up for the move?

You better stay with mom and dad until you save up enough money. No offense but CA is VERY EXPENSIVE and this is not the time to be relocating anywhere with this economy. Please try to go to school if you do make the move and or make sure you surround yourself around the right people.

Well given that not too many people run off to Stockton or Chico, I'm going to guess he's headed where the rest of the dreamy-eyed 18 year olds go: LA, SF, or SD.

Yes! Come on out here. There's just not enough traffic on the freeways yet. There's always room for a few more cars.

and you are going to support yourself how? Do you realize the unemployment rate in Ca and/or the cost of living? Do you have, say, $10,000 set aside to live on, pay rental deposits, untilities and food until you can get a job at Micky Ds?

Every week or two, someone, usually late teens or 20ish decides to come to this board and announce they are moving to Sunny Calif..Sometimes even older people (like 30 somethings) get the urge..most never come I would guess, they just dream about it. That is fine, for those who make the move, how many face totally dispare after a few months.

I am certainly not meaning to blast Ca in anyway, I am simple pointing out, it isn't what you see on T.V. and living there isn't all happy, laid back, beaches, sunshine and fun...
