Some beautiful country up there. I've been to Ben Lomand, but not to BD.

God bless to those affected.

I am in Tulare, which is ≈175 miles away and I can see and smell smoke blowing in from the northwest.

I am so sorry for the Good Folks in the area. I hate fires......

Many years ago i went fishin' at Ben Lomond & explored the RedWoods close to Felton. My beloved Sis loved going to Camp Harmon in the summer.

God Bless You All...

I'm in Santa Cruz county (just down the road) and not in danger but the smoke is on and off again thick here depending on the wind.

Of course prayers are in line. How are things going this morning? It seems California has had more than their share of fires in the past few years.

prayers = good

From SFGATE
"The fire began Wednesday - its cause unknown - in an area that hadn't had a major fire in more than half a century, making it particularly intense and difficult to contain. By Friday evening, the fire had burned 5,036 acres and was only 15 percent contained.
"There hasn't been a major fire here since the 1940s so the fuel is intense," said Jim Stunkel, a battalion chief with San Jose Fire Department who was leading the Santa Clara County strike team. "Our strategy has so far been to push the fire away from the existing structures. That's the priority - save the property."
On Friday, Lt. Gov. John Garamendi, acting as governor, declared a state of emergency in Santa Cruz County, freeing up more state funds for the disaster area. Already, as of Friday, the Lockheed Fire cost $2.1 million to fight.
Authorities estimated that Aug. 23 is the earliest the fire could be fully contained."

I'm so so so sorry. I know that the Santa Cruz mountains dealt with fire last year. It's so devastating to have already dealt with one debilitating disaster and then another one right after. I hope it gets taken care of ASAP. And I really want to know what started this fire, if it is arson the person(s) responsible needs to be put in jail for LIFE!!!!! I wish all involved well and safe…
