It's strange - I saw nothing whatsoever in that article suggesting that any already existing TV would be affected, merely a mandate to reduce the power consumption in future models. Sounds like a good idea to me.

If it means that this will save California taxpayers the additional burden of paying for more power plants to accommodate these energy sucking devices, then heck ya it's a great idea. These poorly designed televisions are being pawned off on us by foreign countries. It's time to stand up to China, and quit being their dumping ground.
