The Ecofreaks and Energy Nazis have just decided what television set you will be permitted to possess if you reside in California after 2011.Besides the continued erosion of personal choice and individual freedom, this act will have economic impact. It will hurt retailers and cost more jobs, just what the state does not need during these times. What comes next,a knock on the door in the middle of the night from the police, who are there to confiscate your poor old energy guzzling old beat up TV?

Did you forget the rolling black outs? The state is desperate at this point.

It's strange - I saw nothing whatsoever in that article suggesting that any already existing TV would be affected, merely a mandate to reduce the power consumption in future models. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Your freedom ends where mine picks up. The State limits many things that you can do. Are you going to make a post on each one? Why don't you start with the UBC? You have the god given right to build and sell a cinder block home without a foundation or rebar, don't you?

If it means that this will save California taxpayers the additional burden of paying for more power plants to accommodate these energy sucking devices, then heck ya it's a great idea. These poorly designed televisions are being pawned off on us by foreign countries. It's time to stand up to China, and quit being their dumping ground.

First they came for our tv sets, then they came for our electric grills.... Finally, when they came for our vibrators, there were no electrical appliances left to...
