Im 21 years old from Boston, MA. I moved to Charlotte, NC a few months ago and will be living here until fall when I plan on moving to Cali to finish college. I am definately a city girl so I know I want to be in a major city an I like to go out on weekends when I am not working and studying. But, how should I go about figuring out what California city is right for me?
Any advice will help!

Where will you be attending college?
What is your major?
How long will it take you starting in September to finish your degree?
Where will you be working?
Will you have a car?
What is your housing budget?

Take a look at San Diego! That way you can torture your Boston friends during winter with your 70 degree days!

San Francisco, IMO, is going to me most like Boston. Lots to do, you don't have to have a car(rent one), Lots of young people in your age bracket.

Socal is great for the beaches, restauraunts, etc. but you need to have a car to go to places.

San Diego, is a great place to live, and has a lot going for it, but it is not going to be as BIG of a city like what you are used to. Charlotte is kind of a small town, so you will probably be stepping up.

You may want to think about New York, or Washington D.C., or Chicago if it is a big city you are after.

I have lived in NY, LA, Charlotte, Chicago, and San Diego. I have been to Boston several times(Fun Town)

You may want to finish up in Boston, then venture out. Just a thought!

I'd say the LA area, maybe Long Beach. I do have to admit though I am biased towards LB. We have an amazing CSU, and there's tons of stuff to do all over the city, although like others have said you do have to have a car around here. Oh and a little tip, no one here calls it "Cali," that's how people tell you aren't from here :P

Most will depend on what colleges you actually get accepted to and whether or not you can afford their OOS tuition. Then that is the city that is right for you.

I do have a car, in fact I would probably be road tripping it to California. I guess I just wasn't sure what part of San Diego my age fits in best, or if LA was completely out of the question in terms of finances. Is it possible to find a cheap apartment in LA?
