I know this has been discussed but am planning a long trip in my motorhome ; will be on the road about 10 days there and that many or more back.
I just do NOT want the hassle of booking ahead for every stop. It seems almost impossible to do. Therefore and for one night stops I want to WalMart park it but my partner going with me is adamant he will not do it.
Anything you pro Walmart parkers can tell me so that I can entice him to do so will be very welcome.

I avoid Walmarts, but have never had a problem when using them (except for truck / traffic noise) (prefer small town walmarts to big city (where there is often a local ordinance against))
yes... good point... you are PARKING... not CAMPING!
Remember there are many other options (Cracker Barrel, Cabela's, Fairgrounds, small town city parks, freecamprounds.org, BLM)
I use:
Hospital / Funeral home lots (away from emergency room)
Casinos
truck stops
Camping World
Elks Lodge (If you are a member)
As a kid on a farm... I was a tad freaked at 4:30 AM (doing milking) to find a hearse parked in the farmyard, and someone sleeping in a Casket. ... (They were on their way to a Hearse convention and wanted some rest. )

It's very easy. Even if you don't have an app like Allstays, go to a Walmart. If you see other RVs, join the crowd. But an app can tell you which ones don't allow. It's no big deal. I stayed at several recently and it's a free place to park overnight without the hassle of setting up or tearing down.

My 'quitting time is usually between 2-3AM and people in RV parks are none too keen on pulling in! and backing up / setting up at that time.
One of my co-drivers made an RV out of a 1963 Studebaker with a Detroit Diesel 3-53. he was asked (instructed) to NEVER bring that noisy thing in this campground after dark!
I'm glad my 22 mpg MH only cost <$25k, but ... I do a WHOLE lot more traveling / camping in my 52 mpg veggie wagons. (sometimes pulling my 'Tear-drops' )
I can't imagine stopping before dark! I can get another 10 hrs down the road! 600 miles & 1/2 tank of fuel (safer / cooler / better mileage, better for vehicle, less traffic... )
The only time I have ever made a reservation was at Yellowstone NP. Someone messed it up, but they did find a space for us.
We went to a NY state park without a reservation and they were full, but they told us to go down the road 15 miles and there is another park that is less well known. We went there and it was beautiful, our site was next to a stream which had been dammed for a natural swimming pool.
We have traveled coast to coast, border to border and beyond. We don't travel with the hoot owls.
Somebody pays $100,000 for an RV and is too cheap to go to a RV park or campground?
And chooses to park at Walmart?
I don't get it.
Our local Walmart made an internal decision to ban overnight RV parking. It wasn't that they didn't want RVers spending the night. It wasn't that they didn't have the space. It wasn't that any local ordinance forcing them to do it. The decision was based on their parking lot turning into a campsite.
The manger explained it this way to me. When parking in the lot was more along the line of transient users passing through, tired travelers, meetups, resupply run, etc., it was not a problem. Now people plan entire trips around free Walmart parking. It's not that their parking lot is a unplanned stopover, often it is the destination. Adding to the problem is way too many RVers have no respect for the privilege by treating it as some private, do as you please, camping site. Unfortunately, he said he had no choice, the abuse was starting to go too far.
Last week I noticed that Cracker Barrel was having No RV Overnight Parking signs installed in their lot as well. I guess people started using their spots too often.

I’ll explain: it’s about convenience, not camping. Ideally, unless you’re a lout, you pull in and park to catch some sleep and leave early in the morning. Overnight parking rather than camping.
